IIM Kozhikode’s Inaugural Annual Conference GNIMS Faculty and Student Participation at “IIM Kozhikode’s Inaugural Annual Conference on Macroeconomics, Banking & Finance” On February 16, 2024, a delegation comprising faculty members and 45 students from GNIMS had the privilege to attend the inaugural Annual Conference on Macroeconomics, Banking & Finance at IIM Kozhikode. Hosted by URUPPIKA – IIMK Centre for Excellence, this event garnered support from notable entities such as NSE, with co-sponsorship from State Bank of India and Axis Bank. The conference, held at NSE Bandra, provided an enriching platform for attendees to delve into the latest developments and insights within the realms of macroeconomics, banking, and finance. Throughout the sessions, distinguished speakers and experts shared their perspectives, fostering a conducive environment for learning and exchange of ideas. The GNIMS faculty and students found the conference to be exceptionally rewarding, with ample opportunities to broaden their understanding of key concepts and emerging trends in the field. The interactive sessions, panel discussions, and networking breaks facilitated valuable connections and enhanced their appreciation for the intricacies of the subject matter.
Entrepreneurship Awareness Program (EAP) We are delighted to share the successful culmination of the Entrepreneurship Awareness Program (EAP) held on Wednesday, 31st January 2024, at the GNIMS 4th Floor Multipurpose Hall. This collaborative endeavor brought together esteemed institutions: the Institute for Design of Electrical Measuring Instruments (IDEMI), a Government of India Society, and the MSME Technology Center under the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME). The primary aim of the program was to offer participants invaluable insights and knowledge across various dimensions of entrepreneurship. The EAP was meticulously curated to provide attendees with a holistic understanding of the entrepreneurial landscape, equipping them with essential tools and perspectives crucial for their entrepreneurial ventures. Through a series of engaging sessions, seasoned speakers generously shared their wealth of experiences, expertise, and practical insights, fostering an environment conducive to learning and inspiration. Participants were afforded the opportunity to explore diverse facets of entrepreneurship, spanning ideation, business planning, funding strategies, market analysis, and more. Interactive discussions and Q&A sessions facilitated the exchange of ideas, enabling a deeper comprehension of the subject matter.

The event was held on 27 January 2024 in the Multipurpose Hall on the 4th floor. The event started at 9:30 a.m. with the Chief Guests, Mr. N. S. Venkatesh and Mr. Zahid Sheikh sharing their views on ‘Dispelling Marketing Myths of Selling Mutual Funds and Financial Products’ and ‘New Trends in Marketing’, respectively. The next half of the event included a ‘Retail Mela’ conducted by the second-year PGDM students and a Presentation competition on ‘Business Strategy’ for second-year MMS students. There were 6 judges (Alumni) invited to examine the competition, Ms. Shalaka Wagholikar, Mr. Rushin Vadhani, Mr. Satish Sabhandasani, Mr. Jignesh Agaria, Mr. Joginder Singh, and Mr. Siddhesh Shette. Campus Recruitment (All Wave Av System) Guru Nanak Institute of Management Studies (GNIMS) hosted a triumphant campus recruitment drive on 23rd January, 2024, setting a new standard for connecting talented graduates with renowned industry players like All Wave Av System Pvt Ltd. The specialisation they were looking for were Operations, Finance, Banking Financial Services and Insurance, Human Resources and Marketing. 46 students from different specialization appeared for the placement drive. The profiles offered to GNIMS students were Marketing Associate, Project Leads, Account Manager and HR – Admin. There were various rounds lined up to test their technical prowess, problem-solving skills, and alignment with All Wave Av System Pvt. Ltd.’s ethics. Programme was concluded by giving gifts as a token of appreciation and respect to the panellist. The panellist, Ms. Ritika Katoch, was very keen in conducting Campus recruitment drive next year also.

Following the presentation, interactive sessions were conducted to engage with the students and address any queries they had regarding job roles, career progression, and organizational culture. These sessions facilitated meaningful interactions between the company representatives and the students. Candidates who met the eligibility criteria underwent technical assessments tailored to evaluate their skills and competencies relevant to the job roles offered by ITC Company. These assessments aimed to assess the candidates’ technical proficiency, problem-solving abilities, and aptitude for the desired roles. Shortlisted candidates from the technical assessments participated in the group discussion round and twenty individuals were selected for further consideration based on their communication skills, presentation skills and alignment with ITC’s core values. The marketing knowledge and enthusiasm of GNIMS students impressed recruiters, demonstrating the institute’s commitment to produce workforce-ready individuals. Overall, the campus recruitment drive for ITC Company was a resounding success, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the recruitment team, CDC team, and student placement committee. HR Meet 2024 SGPC’s Guru Nanak Institute of Management Studies hosted the 5 th HR Meet Pratibimb 2024 on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion on 13 th Jan 2024. The Knowledge partner for the Meet was Avtar a leading Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Consulting firm in India and the sponsor was BoostGrade. Students were introduced to the concept of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion through this Meet. 6 Alumni, 650 (400 Undergraduate Final year students and 250 First and Second year MMS,PGDM ) students and Faculty members participated in that HR Meet. Students from JBIMS & IES and HR from corporates like Promodome Digital LLP, Talent Networks Pvt Ltd., CMS Info system ltd., Sulzer Pumps India Pvt Ltd., Advait Techserve India Pvt Ltd., UST and Abhita Finance Advisors Pvt Ltd also participated. The keynote address was given by Sriram Pitchumani, Chief Strategist- DEI Transformation at Avtar.He shared every women has to go through three stages Marriage, Maternity & Motherhood and due to which she is unable to build her career.His words encouraged the women power to pause and think about it.He also made all the men in the audience take a pledge that they will support all the women in their life to pursue their career aspirations followed by a Q & A. Diversity and inclusion are complementary to each other. If we don’t have inclusion, diversity cannot be taken care of. First, we should talk about inclusive mindset before talking about diversity. LGBTQ and PWD (people with disability) in their workplace. This was followed by a panel discussion consisting of Deepakkumar Jaiswal- Total Reward & Compensation Lead at Wipro, Nishta Nishant: Equal Rights Activist, CEO-Tweet Foundation & Manoj Chaudhary- Head HR- Edelweiss Mutual Fund. The discussion was moderated by Harini Sreenivaasan- Partner – Semcostyle Institute India asked the right questions,engaged the audience.The focus was on the diversity and inclusion practices of their organizations and how do they drive the programs and what are the challenges and business implications of the same.There were questions asked by the student fraternity.The theme,sharp insights given by the resource persons were well appreciated by the audience.There was energy,drive and lot of takeaways for each one in the audience.Post Lunch there was an experiential learning exercise in the form of a drawing competition open for all students from GNIMS & other post graduate Institutions in Mumbai.Participants had to paint their ideas and learnings from the Meet that they participated on canvass.The first prize was won by JBIMS & the second prize had a tie wherein the prize money was shared by two first year MMS students. The Meet concluded with a Vote of Thanks and National Anthem. Pointers : Considering a physically disabled person for a client relationship manager because of his/her skills. Providing comfortable restroom spaces for LGBTQ community which will give them the dignified feeling. Thinking with an open mind and avoiding unconscious biases which stop us from making the correct decisions. Department: HR Department Venue: 504 Time: 2:30pm to 4:30pm Faculty Co-ordinator: Prof. Pravin Kamble Judges: Ms. Ramanpreet and Prof. Suchita A drawing competition was organized for all GNIMS and Outside Institute students on 13th Jan 2024. Objective: 1. To bring out the creative expression, artistic skills of the students and to gauge their understanding of DEI from the HR Meet 2. The aim of this competition was not merely to see the creative aspect but also to trigger the thought process of the students. Partcipants were evaluated based on the following criteria: Imagination Finishing Colors Theme The following students bagged the First, Second position in the painting competition. 1. Harshal Dhurve- MMS- JBIMS 2. Saumya Kantak-MMS- GNIMS and Kaushik Kamble-MMS-GNIMS 1. This competition kept the students engaged. It was organized to explore and encourage creativity in students and offer them a platform to showcase their talent 2. It inspired them to think and to work creatively in order to promote artistic excellence. 3. The creativity & innovative ideas on the theme “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” was well presented 4. Campus Recruitment (Kotak Mahindra Bank) Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited conducted a Campus Recruitment Drive on 12th January 2024 in Guru Nanak Institute of Management Studies (GNIMS), Mumbai for the position of Deputy Manager. Panel of Three members, Ms. Khushali Jadhav (Senior Manager Talent Acquisition), Ms. Divya Mehra (CMS Product Support – Deputy Vice president) and Mr. Upendra came for searching suitable talent by conducting student interviews. Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited is an Indian banking and financial services company headquartered in Mumbai. It offers banking products and financial services for corporate and retail customers in the areas of personal finance, investment banking, life insurance, and wealth management. Around 40 students from Finance, Marketing and Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance sector specialization had participated in the campus interview drive and 8 students qualified after group discussion for personal interview. Qualified students were then interviewed personally by the recruiting and shortlisted for the final interview round that was conducted in the company’s premises. Our In-charge Directors, Dr. Satvinder Singh Bedi and Dr. Jasbir Kaur, motivated & supported Prof. Anitha Menon and the CDC Team in every aspect for the successful conduction of this campus drive & quoted how such programmes were essential for boosting the confidence of students and for the strong image of our Institute by building a bridge between prestigious organisations like Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited.
Campus Recruitment (Bondbazaar) On January 5, 2024, Guru Nanak Institute of Management Studies (GNIMS) had a successful campus recruitment drive that established a new benchmark for matching bright graduates with well-known brand like Bond bazaar. The areas of expertise they were seeking were marketing, finance, banking, insurance, and financial services. As a Management Trainee, Partnership & Alliance was the profile. Eight finalists were chosen after extensive interviews based on their technical proficiency, aptitude for solving problems, and compatibility with Bond bazaar’s core values. Recruiters were impressed by the financial literacy and enthusiasm of GNIMS students, which reaffirmed the institute’s dedication to producing professionals prepared for the workforce.
