Case Study Workshop

Case Study Workshop The Research Center of GNIMS organised a case writing workshop on 4th July 2024.  Dr R K Srivastava , Emeritus Professor and Head of Marketing and Research   N L Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research  conducted the session . He highlighted the importance of  case study as a pedagogy . While sharing the guidelines on how to write a case study he shared inputs on dos and don’ts of writing one.

Environmental Sustainability Workshop

Environmental Sustainability Workshop The second edition of the Cafeteria Chronicles was held at Room 402, GNIMS, on Saturday, July 6, 2024, from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, focusing on Environmental Sustainability. The guest speaker, Mr. Virat Singh, Head of Communication for Air Quality and Pollution at ASAR, shared his experiences and emphasized the importance of “Environmental Responsibility” over high-sounding terms. He encouraged the involvement of students in energy and water conservation, as well as waste management, to make GNIMS a green campus.   Dr. Pratiksha Palahe, Director Admin GNIMS, introduced the guest and discussed the management’s commitment to creating a greener campus. Mr. Singh offered collaboration with ASAR and other environmental organizations to help GNIMS achieve its green goals. A vote of thanks highlighted the launch of a Terrace Garden as a first step towards this initiative, with an award ceremony planned for July 26, 2025, to honour students who contribute to campus sustainability. The event, attended by Director Dr. Satvinder Singh Bedi and senior faculty. It was vibrant and engaging event, despite being moved from the cafeteria due to maintenance.

Fire Safety Drill

Fire Safety Drill Fire Safety Drill was conducted in SGPC’s Guru Nanak Institute of Management Studies on Friday, 19 th July 2024 at 3.00pm in the college premises. The primary objective of the fire safety mock drill was to ensure that all employees are familiar with the fire safety and handling procedure in case of a fire, understand the use of fire-fighting equipment, and are aware of the designated assembly points. This drill aimed to enhance the preparedness of the workforce in handling fire emergencies efficiently and safely.   All employees (teaching and nonteaching) were notified about the upcoming drill a week in advance through announcement. A briefing session was conducted by employee of NX company. He explained evacuation plan and assembly points. Drill was executed. The fire alarm was activated. This marked the start of the drill. Employees evacuated the building promptly, following the designated evacuation routes. Floor wardens guided the evacuation process to ensure orderly and quick movement. Participants gathered at the pre-determined assembly points. Attendance was taken to ensure employees had evacuated safely. Demonstration on how to use fire extinguishers (ABC type) was conducted. Its use of application was demonstrated, and all the faculties were asked to practise for confidence of use.    The fire safety mock drill was successful in achieving its objectives. Employees demonstrated a good understanding of the evacuation procedures and the use of fire-fighting equipment. The observations and recommendations provided will help in further improving the safety measures and ensuring a higher level of readiness for fire emergencies.

Students Live Project with A2 Natural Plus

Students Live Project with A2 Natural Plus The MMS Sem III (Batch 2023-2025) students of GNIMS successfully completed a live project titled “Analyzing Marketing Opportunities and Developing Awareness and Subscriptions for A2 Natural Plus” in collaboration with M/s A2 Natural Plus, Mumbai, from July 25, 2024, to August 25, 2024. Throughout this project, students engaged with various syllabus modules in a practical setting, gaining hands-on experience in developing strategies related to moments of truth, social media engagement, gap analysis, customer relationship management, lead generation, and persuasive skills. Under the expert guidance of Mr. Ajit Ranbhare, Director of A2 Natural Plus, students were able to apply their theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges. Additionally, Dr. Jyoti Pawar, Faculty of Marketing, provided essential support and mentorship throughout the project.    Upon successful completion, students received certificates recognizing their efforts and achievements. The certificate distribution ceremony was held on Friday, October 4, 2024, celebrating the students’ hard work and dedication.   This initiative not only enhanced their learning experience but also strengthened their practical skills in the marketing domain, preparing them for future professional endeavours in the competitive business landscape. The collaboration exemplified the importance of industry partnerships in enriching academic programs and fostering student development.

Guest Lecture on Diversity Equity & Inclusion

Guest Lecture on Diversity Equity & Inclusion A guest lecture was organized for Second year MMS & PGDM HR students of Batch 2023 2025  on Diversity Equity & Inclusion   Second year PGDM students placement committee student members and cultural committee student members also were present for the session. There was an activity wherein student volunteers came forward got aware of their conscious and unconscious biases. There were audiovisuals stories shared by Harish Iyer SVP Head Dei at Axis Bank on 27th July 24 from 1 30 pm to 4 30 pm in 406. There were realizations perspectives smiles students coming out sharing their experiences. It was a day wherein all took a pledge of trying to remove conscious and unconscious biases while dealing with people at large.

GNIMS -BOSLA National Seminar 2024

GNIMS -BOSLA National Seminar 2024 GNIMS – BOSLA National Seminar was organized on the Theme “Evolving Roles and Spaces in Librarianship: Competencies and Beyond”, on August 10, 2024.  This enriching Seminar was a celebration of National Librarians’ Day and the 132nd Birth Anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, Father of Library Science in India, organized by the Bombay Science Librarians Association (BOSLA) in collaboration with SGPC’s Guru Nanak Institute of Management Studies (GNIMS) and GNIMS Business School, Mumbai. The event attracted 120 attendees from Pan-India, including Librarians, Information Science Professionals, and Members of BOSLA, Library Science Students who gathered to explore the evolving roles and required competencies of librarians in the digital age.   Dr. Subhas Chavan, Chairman, Dr. Ganesh Surwase, Vice-Chairman, Dr. Dattatraya Kalbande, General Secretary; Dr. Kuljeet Kaur G. Kahlon, Treasurer and other Office bearers were the Organizing Committee. Dr. Nandkishor Motewar, University Librarian also attended this Seminar, which gave a boost to the Organizers.   The seminar began with registration and breakfast, setting a welcoming tone for the day. Following this, attendees assembled in the Auditorium for the formal inauguration, which commenced with the GNIMS Prayer and Saraswati Vandana, symbolized by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Dr. Kuljeet Kaur G. Kahlon, the Organizing Secretary, Treasurer of BOSLA, and Library Manager, SGPC’S Guru Nanak Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, delivered a warm welcome address, followed by the Felicitation of Eminent Guests.   Anchoring by Ms. Neelam Chavan, Librarian, Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Mumbai and Dr. Manju Kalita, Librarian, BITS Pallini, Mumbai, was engaging and added credibility to the seminar.   Dr. Subhash Chavan, Chairman of BOSLA and Director of the Library at BMK SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai, provided an insightful introduction to BOSLA, highlighting its history and achievements. Dr. Jasbir Kaur, In-charge Director, PGDM, GNIMS Business School, delivered the Chief Guest Address, emphasizing the need for adaptation in Librarianship.   The seminar was officially inaugurated by Prof.  Dr. M. Doraswamy, Honorable Vice Chancellor, Dravidian University, by an Audio Message, speaking on the evolving role of librarians as knowledge facilitator and providing his best wishes for a successful Seminar.   The Presidential Remarks by Dr. Satvinder Singh Bedi, In-charge Director, MMS, GNIMS, reflected on the critical role of librarians today, emphasizing the importance of the seminar’s theme.   The event also featured an Book launch, book written by Dr. Kuljeet Kaur G. Kahlon entitled The Role of Internet in Management College Libraries in Mumbai, published by San International Scientific Publications and the release of the GNIMS In-House Journals – International e-Journal of Library Science and Sansmaran Management Research Journal, adding to academic value to the seminar. BOSLA’s dedication to recognizing excellence in librarianship was evident in the award announcements, including the prestigious Prof. Kognurmath Best Librarian Award presented to Dr. E. R. Prakash from BARC, Mumbai for his outstanding contributions to the field. The seminar also included the felicitation of Retired Library Professionals Dr. Vanita Jain, Ex-librarian, M.D. College, Mumbai and Mr. Dileep Bhaskar Ghoderao, Ex-librarian, TIFR, Mumbai and Ph.D. awardee Dr. Anil Kumar, BARC, Mumbai. BOSLA presented a memento to the host organization GNIMS for hosting this fruitful and enlightening Seminar.   Dr. Dattatraya Kalbande, General Secretary of BOSLA, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all involved.   The Technical Sessions from Mr. Kishor Ingle, Head, Information Resource Centre, TCS, Pune gave a power packed session on Skills and Competencies Required for the Changing Role of Librarians. He mentioned the importance of various skill development for the Library Professionals and contemporary trends in librarianship.   Ms. Padma Sirohi, Librarian, D. Y. Patil, Deemed to be University, Navi Mumbai, engaged the attendees with her outstanding session on Are Libraries More than Just a Place, highlighting that Libraries are not a place but a content creation.   A Book Exhibition was held by Vakratund Book House and the attendees purchased books for their Institute.   Feedback from two Student attendees Ms. Kevali Sanghvi and Ms. Gauravi Gurav and BOSLA Member Dr. Deepali Kuberkar, Librarian, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai added to the academic atmosphere of the seminar.   The seminar concluded with a valedictory function, the National Anthem, lunch, networking, and Certificate Distribution.   All the attendees visited the GNIMS Library and G. N. Khalsa College Library after the seminar. They were overwhelmed by the ambience of the Library and the efficient functioning of the Library. They shared their remarks and memorable feedback of the Seminar and the Libraries.   This Seminar was a resounding success and provided vital discussions on the changing landscape of librarianship and offered a platform for networking and professional development among library and information science professionals. This seminar provided an opportunity for us to reflect on our shared mission and to recommit ourselves to the principles Dr. Ranganathan laid down. This was a memorable and meaningful event in honor of a Great Visionary and reaffirming BOSLA’s commitment to advancing librarianship.   A Brief Report of the Seminar is published in the Business Standard Newspaper, dated August 14, 2024. 

FIT Fiesta

Fit Fiesta The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Cell organized “Fit Fiesta”, a health and fitness-themed event for PGDM and MMS students. Held in the multipurpose hall, the event featured 49 PGDM students from the 2024-26 batch, who set up stalls offering homemade modak, solkadi, carrot and mint juice, and more. The event also included breathing exercises, meditation awareness, and health-related games with prizes for exercise challenges. MMS students provided support through social media coverage, hall decoration, and feedback collection.   Dr. Satvinder Singh Bedi and Dr. Jasbir Kaur, directors at GNIMS and GNIMS B School, praised the students’ efforts and innovative ideas. The event successfully helped students develop entrepreneurial skills, such as promotion, logistics, and creating the right ambiance. The students were pleased with the event’s success.
